I have just finished reading Tracey Carmichael’s book titled “Happy Mind Formula – Your Action Plan To Mental And Physical Wellbeing”. If you are struggling with low moods, low energy and struggling with life each day Tracey’s book is well worth reading! Based on what helped Tracey in her own challenges with anxiety, depression and low self-esteem, the book highlights areas that can contribute to poor mental wellbeing that are not always addressed when seeing a health professional.

The reasons for poor mental health can be numerous and trying to figure out all the causes and what can help is a bit like putting a jigsaw puzzle together. Often the pieces needed to complete the puzzle are not always obvious. Tracey’s book is comprehensive and contains some missing pieces of the puzzle that many people affected by anxiety or depression will need to help them in their recovery.

What I specifically value about the book is the connection between food and mood. In particular, Tracey identifies that sugar, wheat and dehydration can significantly contribute to low moods. Despite weight gain or loss and an increase or decrease in appetite being one of the main symptoms of depression, eating habits and diet are often not considered in treatment.

The Happy Mind Formula has straightforward suggestions about what foods can help improve low moods and the end of the book is dedicated to some yummy, gluten and sugar free recipes which I’m sure anyone will enjoy! The Happy Mind Formula is very easy to read and packed with lots of tips and ideas that can help move someone from struggling with debilitating moods to embracing a happy mind! 1. That’s great Krishna! Gut problems and anxiety usually walk hand in hand, so it will be interesting to hear the positive changes the Happy Mind Formula will make!
