Almost two decades of my life was spent going on never-ending diets in search of the Holy Grail of weight loss so I could acquire the body of a supermodel and live life happily ever after. I finally stopped this insane cycle after realizing the damage it was causing and decided I did not want to spend the rest of my life being obsessed with weight loss and being a certain size and shape. It’s about three weeks into 2012 and normally by this time most resolutions made at the start of a new year, although made in good faith, have fallen by the wayside. I heard recently that after three weeks into a new year the majority of people have abandoned their goals. I’m sure that most people are motivated and inspired to reach new goals for the first two weeks but by the third week the reality that some effort needs to be applied to achieve a goal might just be a bit much! The documentary was based on a new type of supermarket based on connecting the community, reducing food wastage and providing an alternative way of food buying rather than going to big chain supermarkets. I started going to my local Farmer’s markets last year and food shopping is now no longer a chore, it’s an enjoyable experience that I look forward to. I am fortunate to live on the Sunshine Coast where there is access to a few farmers markets in the local area.

Outdoor shopping experience: Shopping in the fresh air is a more pleasurable experience than trying to navigate the aisles of a supermarket with a trolley that seems to want to move in a diagonal direction when I’m trying to push it forward.
